With the advent of coronavirus and its quick change into a pandemic, those initial days in 2018 when a bunch of friends decided to buy a tropical island seem like decades ago. Despite all this, we remain positive and optimistic!
We are now over two years into the project that would turn itself into Let’s Buy An Island, IBG Inc, and indeed our very own nation, the Principality of Islandia. Right now though, the world is not in a very good place.
Our co-founder Gareth was there on ground zero, a witness to the early days of what would become the pandemic, and even quarantined before it became the norm. We all hoped that it would be a storm in a teacup, but now we see that is not the case. The world is in crisis, but hope is far from lost.
Where does Let’s Buy an Island currently stand?
The short answer is that we still own our own island! We also still have a strong team of volunteers doing what they can to promote the project and keep everyone motivated during tough times.
Are you still looking for new investors?
We are still talking to interested parties, and still expect more to join, although at a slower rate. There is a lot more going on right now, but our investors care very much about this project and will continue to do what work we can.
What is the future of LBI?
We sincerely hope that things get back to normal as quickly as possible, not for us, but for the world in general. If history has taught us anything it is that things do improve over time. When the time is right the thought of owning a piece of paradise might be just what the doctor ordered.
We have already survived a lot of ups and downs, and we will not only survive but thrive after this tough time.
